Arm launches Cortex-X4, billing it as the first CPU built on TSMC’s N3E process

On Monday, British chip design company Arm launched the Total Compute Solutions 2023 (TCS23), a cutting-edge technology platform for premium mobile computing. The release includes Arm’s new generation CPU Cortex-X4, which the company claims is the first CPU built on TSMC’s N3E process. It boasts an increase in performance of 15% compared to the previous generation while consuming 40% less power. TCS23 is designed to deliver high-performance and compute-intensive experiences for flagship smartphones and laptops. It enhances visual experiences, such as immersive mobile gaming and advanced AI applications, while maintaining high-power efficiency for extended usage. Chipmaker MediaTek will be using TCS23 for making its next-generation smartphone chips Dimensity 9200, according to Arm. [Arm statement]
